How to Book the Job Part 1: Sides

When: Thursday, June 14th, 7-9pm
You got the audition, fantastic. Now you want to nail it! How are you spending your prep time? How do you bring the work into the room... and let it go? Learn tools and techniques to build your confidence to pave the way for a great audition. Enter the audition room feeling grounded, confident, focused and ready.
In two evening sessions we will explore film and tv auditions from two sides- with prep time and without. It is designed for actors who are actively auditioning or performing. Embodied voice will be integrated into the warm-up followed by individualized coaching.
Tuesday night will focus on how to handle and prep sides given in advance (to be assigned)
Thursday night will focus on cold readings- what to do when asked to read a different role/scene on the spot!
Class Capacity: 6
Small group size allows for more individual attention. We want to make sure everyone walks away having had a chance to explore the work and take a step forward towards mastery of their craft.

Bio: Miriam is a graduate of the Brown/Trinity MFA program and has performed on Broadway and off as well as regionally at theaters including Lincoln Center, The Public, EST, Red Bull, Rattlestick, page73, The Playwrights Realm, Ripe Time, Yale Rep, The Goodman, The Guthrie, Arena Stage, Berkshire Theatre Festival, The Folger, Trinity Rep and in numerous productions at the Shakespeare Theatre in DC where Miriam is an Affiliated Artist. Roles at the Shakespeare Theatre include Isabella in Measure for Measure, Helena in All’s Well That Ends Well, and Marcela in a world premiere adaptation of Lope de Vega’s Dog in the Manger for which she earned a Helen Hayes nomination for Outstanding Actress. Miriam earned a Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Actress for her performance in Finks at Ensemble Studio Theater. Miriam currently teaches in NYU’s graduate acting program, at Marymount Manhattan College and at the Todoroff Conservatory. Past teaching credits include Brooklyn College, HB Studio, NYCDA, PPAS, and Master Classes in Verse and Shakespeare for Red Bull, The Factory, The Shakespeare Theatre and The University of Iowa. Miriam received a 2011 TCG Fox Fellowship for Extraordinary Potential to further explore the relationship between voice and verse. During her Fellowship, Miriam studied with the Roy Hart Theater in France, Tim Carroll and the Factory in London, Patsy Rodenburg, Catherine Fitzmaurice and others. Miriam co-founded the NYC based branch of The Factory with Tim Carroll, and helped lead workshops for a rotating group of actors from 2010-2013. Miriam is a member of The Actor’s Center Workshop Company.
